Mycoplasma Elimination Solutions
Mycoplasma contamination seriously affects cell growth and cell physiology leading to biased and unreliable experimental results. When mycoplasma contamination is detected, the contaminated cells are ideally discarded and all equipment, e.g. work benches, CO2 incubators, etc., are disinfected (see chapter 7.4 for disinfectant sprays).
However, if the affected cells are unique or the result of extensive work, thorough elimination of the contaminating mycoplasmas is necessary. Standard antibiotics commonly used in cell culture (e.g. Pen/Strep) do not affect mycoplasmas. Therefore, PromoKine offers two highly effective methods to get rid of mycoplasma contamination: Mycoplasma-EX, a combination of non-antibiotic and antibiotic reagents, and BIOMYC 1-3, three highly effective antibiotics.
