The PromoCell Planar Migration Assay allows fast and easy screening for migration stimulating effects of test substances in vitro. Cells from a confluent area migrate into a cell free section at a speed which is influenced by the applied test substance. After 3-4 days, the distance between the two migration fronts is measured (cell staining is not necessary). This distance is proportional to the migration stimulating capacity of the applied test substance.
The cell free section is created at PromoCell by a special culture technique and not by the scraping of cells. This ensures undamaged cells at the edge and a defined migration front.
The assay is ready-to-use and consists of primary endothelial cells with a defined migration front and optimized medium. Substances that have already been analyzed using the Migration Assay: VEGF, FGF-1, FGF-2, kinase inhibitors e.g. SU5614.
